The Bradford City Water Authority has an immediate opening for a Distribution Laborer.
This position will report directly to the Distribution Foreman but could also receive assignments from the Distribution Operations Manager and and/or Executive Director. This position shall utilize AWWA standards to uphold and adhere to all water quality standards and requirements set forth by the PA DEP.
Focused initiatives relative to this position include the ability to: exhibit safe work habits and practices, work well in a team oriented environment, obtain and retain knowledge and skill associated with all maintenance and repairs of Distribution system assets, have exceptional attention to detail, and adhere to all BCWA Rules and Regulations aligned with our Authority Mission Statement.
Skills, abilities and experience in the following areas is a plus: Preventive Maintenance, mechanical aptitude, hands-on dexterity with tools & equipment, troubleshooting, problem solving, hydraulics/fluid dynamics, utility asset locating and technical proficiency in GIS and other computer based systems.
Educational requirements will include the demonstrated ability to complete all required training and continuing education units as directed by the Authority to obtain state certification in the field of Water Distribution.
Other responsibilities include the ability to serve as "on-call" Distribution Service person as assigned, which could include covering off-hours, weekends, and Holiday's.
A successful candidate must possess a current Pennsylvania driver's license, CDL endorsement would be beneficial. Current Pennsylvania Water Distribution Certification or similar water related certification and/or plumbing background and experience is a plus.
A successful candidate must also have the physical capability to work outdoors in all types of weather and the ability to work safely in and around hazardous areas or conditions. Successful candidate must be able to respond to immediate distribution issues or emergencies as required during off hours.
