Project Description: We are seeking someone with anan SME-level knowledge of the installation/administration/support process starting with SMP/E through the removal of software components. For this project we are seeking for someone that has 10+ years experience in the following capabilities: o Configuring and using the SMP/E tool o Working with Db2 Logging and System Recovery/Disaster Recovery including GDPS o Incorporating the DB2 Subsystem into the LPAR IPLs o Working with Db2 Storage Groups o Defining and implementing Performance features to Buffer Pools and other Db2 System level components o Defining and maintaining Data Sharing environments including the DB2 Sysplex o Downloading System Software from the vendor, installing Db2 and Db2 Administration Tools throughout the Tech, Test/Dev, and Prod environments including following all Change procedures, ensuring Application Developer testing, and the overall post implementation validation steps Responsibilities: - Install/Maintain/Configure the Db2 software and related Db2 ISV software - Experience automating process using zOSMF - Experience recovering the Db2 environment in a Disaster Recovery environment - Demonstrates knowledge in all areas of z System Db2 Software administration - Designs and documents technical solutions required to support complex business system and/or integrations o Generate documentation for use by Computer Operations as well as the Technical Help Desk - Systems Infrastructure/Platform lifecycle management (the lifecycle of Db2 Software from planning, through operation, and disposal or end-of-life) o Install and support latest releases of Db2 software o Experience applying all types of vendor Db2 software fixes: ‣ High-impact pervasive (HIPER) PTF ‣ Pre-requisite fix ‣ Co-requisite fix ‣ Technical Refresh requisite fix ‣ Distribution requisite fix ‣ Cumulative PTF packages ‣ Service packs ‣ Authorized Program Analysis Report (APAR) ‣ Program Temporary Fix (PTF) Mandatory Skills Description: - Demonstrated knowledge and fully proficient in the use of TSO and ISPF - Demonstrated knowledge of z/OS, primary operations console operations and commands - Demonstrated understanding of JCL and ability to create and modify JCL job streams - Demonstrated understanding of z/OS dataset configurations and the ability to properly allocate various dataset configurations - Experience working with all types of z/OS file types and file systems Including PDS/PDSE and VSAM - Has responsibility and capability to work multi-platforms including z/OS, LINUX, and Windows - Practical understanding of SMPE and how to use it - Experience with zFS including allocation and related Unix commands to manage the space - Experience working with ITSM processes including Incidents, Change and related processes - Familiarity with Configuration Manager a plus - Ability to work independently - Interprets policies and applies experience - Ability to work as a team player in both a partner role and mentor as appropriate - Experience working with Vendors to create/manage support tickets including describing the issues, gathering, packaging and uploading documentation and follow up as needed - Fully proficient on use of enterprise z System monitoring tools o Omegamon o Mainview o TMON o MXG o Splunk - 10+ years of mainframe systems experience, with specific concentration in the Db2 Software Administration/PLM area, working in a large z Systems environment: o Multiple Parallel SysPlex configuration o DB2Plex o CICSPlex o Multiple physical z Systems machines o Multiple Production LPAR environment o General Processors / zIIP Processors - Proven ability to cover the 24x7 on-call rotation o Available for the on-call frequencies based on team size o Ability to work in an atmosphere with heightened pressure and visible to all levels of Leadership o Ability to work effectively in an Incident 'War Room" scenario partnering with other teams on the initial root cause determination o Ability to follow all processes and procedures in this environment - Proven ability to o Break complex topics into meaningful pieces of information o Sort through large amounts of data to assess for relevancy o Seek out multiple sources to gather information o Identify cause and effect relationships between known and unknown variables o Evaluate quality processes and seeks opportunities to streamline o Consider the customer experience, business impact and solution objective when managing risks and development and design of solutions o Pro-actively identify patterns in issues and research root-cause to improve overall quality o Holding self-accountable for meeting high performance standards and agreed upon commitments o Taking responsibility for outcomes of actions and decisions o Identify and analyzes options and selects course of action based on best fit with desired outcomes o Monitor and analyze multiple systems and researching/proposing solutions to issues Nice-to-Have Skills: SME-level knowledge of the installation/administration/support process starting with SMP/E through the removal of software components
