BASIC FUNCTION: Administer human resources activities for the Lake City plant. Includes recruiting, compensation, benefits, training, safety, union relations, workers' compensation administration and other activities required to contribute to the achievement of company goals and objectives. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate all recruiting activities for all salaried and hourly requirements. Contribute to effective union-management relations by participating in contract negotiations, administering the labor contract, and participating in problem resolution, including the grievance procedure. Contribute to the establishment of, and oversee, administration of the hourly and salaried benefit programs. Administer effective workers' compensation program. Includes involvement in insurance decisions, daily administration, a light duty work program, loss reduction activities, and involvement in litigation activities. Coordinate employee training and career development programs. Includes new employee orientation, coordination of hourly and salaried education, recommendations of appropriate training programs, and administration of tuition refund programs. Direct safety and health programs by administering first aid system, OSHA compliance, safety rule development and enforcement, and safety training. Coordinate plant-wide programs to enhance two-way communications between employees and management. Continually assess effectiveness of communication techniques to include newsletters, bulletin boards and employee meetings. Contribute to the application of effective salary and wage administration programs. Develop and implement the affirmative action program as required by applicable federal and state regulations. Administer miscellaneous human resources functions including service awards, plant tours, open houses, vending services, locker rooms, shoe ordering, Employee Activity Association activities, etc. Enhance the company image by maintaining involvement in community activities, participating on outside boards and committees, and establishing contact with appropriate government agencies. Provide an effective unemployment compensation cost control program. Oversee administration of employee promotion, transfer, termination, seniority roster, etc. record keeping activities. Complete related IATF 16949 trainings as required The person assigned to this job has the authority and responsibility for the tasks designated in the EMS (Environmental Management System) procedures and for the tasks described below. Understanding and assuring conformance with the plant's Environmental Policy as it relates to their job responsibilities. Understanding identified facility Significant EMS Aspects relating to their job and conforming with related facility operational controls. Understanding and assuring conformance with facility EMS Legal and Other requirements relating to their job responsibilities. Suggesting appropriate modifications of facility EMS documents to the EMS coordinator. Reporting any observed facility nonconformances to the EMS coordinator. Supporting and offering to their supervisor or EMS coordinator suggestions for the improvement of the facility EMS. PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Continuously interfaces with staff, office and plant management. Interacts with all plant employees. Maintains contact with other T&N Human Resources departments, and all AEG-NA Human Resources Managers, State and Federal agencies, providers of benefits and services, and members of the community. EDUCATION: Four year college degree in business administration, human resources, management or social sciences. Equivalent experience may be substituted for the specified education requirement. The Human Resources Manager will make the determination as to what constitutes equivalent experience. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of five years of human resources experience in an industrial environment.
