Job Description

Under the direction and guidance of the Design Manager, Responsible Engineer, or Designer, uses 2D and 3D CAD and modeling techniques to develop design packages which fulfill established design requirements. This includes (but is not limited to) independent creation and detailing of piece parts, weldments, assemblies, drawings, and supporting documentation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Convert existing U-Haul Technical Center drawings from 2D AutoCAD to 3D Inventor

  • Create accurate CAD data from hand sketches, verbal instructions, or prototypes

  • Manage and maintain CAD data using Autodesk Vault

  • Work seamlessly with Engineering, R&D, and Mfg. to produce and update drawings

  • Review drawings and models prior to release

  • Develop understanding and familiarity with practices and products through exposure

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Computer Aided Design Certificate or 2+ years’ experience with Design & Drafting

  • Experience reading, interpreting, and laying out engineering drawings

  • Experience creating detail drawings in a manner which communicates design intent

  • Proficient with Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks proficiency with ability to transition to Inventor considered

  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 Drafting Standards and Practices

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred:

  • Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Design & Drafting

  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, fasteners, and specifications

  • Familiarity with DFM (Design for Manufacturing) principles

  • Familiarity with Autodesk Vault

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Planner
