Job Description:

This position works under the direction of the Business Applications Manager. The Business Application Analyst III works closely with other Intermountain Business Analysts, subject matter experts, and on occasion external consultants to improve the structure and operations of enterprise-wide functional areas utilizing existing business application solutions and working knowledge in areas of expertise. In cases where existing business applications do not meet the needs of operations, the Business Application Analyst III partners with operations and Business Application leadership to find an appropriate solution.

The Business Applications Analyst III is responsible for collaborating with his/her functional teams and operational leaders in all aspects of business applications, including but not limited to planning, analysis, designing, building, testing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-wide system solutions. The Business Applications Analyst III is responsible for collaborating with operational leaders and business application leaders in supporting enterprise-wide system strategies.

Workday ERP Financials Experience strongly preferred.

Scope

The Business Application Analyst III is part of a centralized, system wide business applications team responsible for overall production configuration and support for the applications in their area of accountability.

Job Essentials

  1. Consults and actively works with business areas and project teams to assess needs for the various business functions. Interprets policies, procedures, and applicable laws, and translates business functional requirements, policy, procedures, and laws into functional design documents adhering to industry best practice, regulations, and industry and institutional controls. Works with IT counterparts to create technical design documentation. Executes on system and process solutions benefiting Intermountain caregivers and patients.

  2. Recommends policy and procedure changes to correlate with industry best practice.

  3. Manages complex projects utilizing standard business process design including but not limited to creation of timelines, dependencies, defining deliverables, performing cost benefit analysis, gap fit analysis, industry analysis, and trends, testing, and deployment. Follows standard project management methodologies. May be involved in supervising other business analysts in less complex projects. When working with consultants, is responsible for tracking tasks associated with statement of work deliverables and managing day to day activities of consultants.

  4. Initiates or participates in RFP process and/or build analysis for software solutions to appropriately meet the needs of business in situations where existing systems do not meet needs of the business. Works closely with Business Applications Leadership to manage the process through the appropriate evaluation and committee reviews.

  5. Provides day-to-day operational maintenance and support to functional users and employees on systems. Performs operational systems tasks and maintenance as assigned. May supervise other business analysts in routine system tasks as necessary. Participates in process consultations. Surfaces new delivered functionality with business where appropriate.

  6. Performs troubleshooting of complex issues related to system functionality and data integrity. Surfaces process improvements with operations and/or system configuration or enhancement improvement to resolve complex issues based on end user interactions, analysis of data, and working knowledge in area of expertise.

  7. Responsible for testing and deployment, including but not limited to patch or service pack testing, defect research, general testing, and deployment support. Follows standard testing methodologies. Provides high quality documentation related to new or modified system configuration.

  8. Responsible for change management and security management including FRC support, RFC review, and support of DSA responsibilities, or other duties related to system change management and security management. May act as a DSA or supervise DSA activities for systems within their area of accountability.

  9. Develops high quality business applications documentation and training materials to assist with system training to end users. Trains operation trainers or super users on system related functionality.

  10. Responsible for development of complex ad-hoc queries and data analysis. May be involved in supervising less complex query development. Maintains a comprehensive understanding of types of information used in area of expertise, how the data is produced, consumed, transformed, and analyzed to support business decisions.

  11. Responsible for new development of complex reports or dashboards utilizing report and dashboard tools in existing applications. May be involved in supervising less complex report or dashboard development.

  12. Mentors to develop and enhance competencies and abilities of other team members.

  13. Acts as a Project Management leader and drives projects from start to finish. Facilitates risk mitigation. Works on projects at an enterprise level. Provides consultation, data analysis for clinical and business stakeholders across the organization. Communicates technical / analytical concepts to others.

  14. Shares important and relevant information with the team. Proactively offers suggestions, provides resources, volunteers for assignments, and removes barriers to help the team accomplish its goals.

  15. Is actively involved in industry forums and user groups and surfaces industry trends and best practices for system and operational roadmap consideration.

Minimum Qualifications

Actively working towards a Bachelor's Degree with nine years of professional experience. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.

Bachelor's degree in with eight years of professional experience working within a related area.

  • or -

Master's degree with four years of professional work experience in a related area,

  • and -

Experience in a role requiring proficiency at solving complex problems and demonstrated ability to think and plan on a broad level, ability to manage large-scale projects and tasks, and ability to process information and details on a tactical level.

  • and -

Experience contributing to multiple enterprise level projects and systems.

  • and -

Experience in a role requiring effective communication of business concepts to technical and non-technical personnel and bringing order to ideas and processes.

  • and -

Demonstrated advanced SQL or comparable query language, ability to execute complex joins in queries.

  • and -

Experience in interpretation of data from multiple data sources and multiple data structures.

  • and -

Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, and e-mail.

  • and -

Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Workday ERP (Financials) configuration experience

Master's degree obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.

Demonstrated knowledge of related professional experience through certification such as Certified Public Accountant, Professional Business Analyst.

Experience with hands-on application management, design, configuration, maintenance, and support for systems.

ERP, HR, Budgeting, BI, or Payroll implementation experience.

  • and -

Experience and knowledge of the Healthcare industry.

  • and -

Experience implementing a system or has been responsible for successful implementation or evolution of an existing system.

  • and -

Proficiency with SQL or Microsoft Access.

Physical Requirements:

Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information.
