Job Summary

External Reporting Group key contributor and supporter to the Technical Accounting Group. Lead the preparation of all external reporting documents and schedules (e.g., Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings) and ensure compliance with regulations for U.S publicly traded companies. Coordinate with cross functional groups within the company including Corporate Accounting, Investor Relations, Tax, Legal, FP&A, Operations, and Business Units to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information. Review and analyze aggregated financial information to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations and practices. Present external reporting highlights and technical accounting findings to senior and executive level management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the company’s public financial statements and other SEC filings are of the highest standards of quality, U.S. GAAP-compliant, and useful to management and the investing public.

  • Manage quarterly and annual process for filing Forms 10-Q and 10-K (EDGAR and iXBRL) as well as annual employee benefit plans, including drafting and reviewing documents, ensuring quality, coordinating reviews by management, legal counsel and independent auditors while adhering to strict timelines.

  • Prepare, review and file other periodic SEC documents and other regulatory filings, including, but not limited to Forms 8-K, S-3, S-8, Proxy, Offering Memorandum.

  • Maintain external reporting calendar, including scheduling and coordinating all internal functions as well as independent auditors.

  • Coordinate with Investor Relations to assist with the preparation of earnings releases, financial reconciliations, as well as investor presentations.

  • Manage financial reporting system (WDesk) to provide key stakeholders financial reporting documents on a real time basis, including managing request of reviewers for comparative documents.

  • Manage the preparation and review of cash flow reporting (both direct and indirect method), which is used for both forecasting and actual US GAAP reporting.

  • Ensure that the company remains in compliance with FASB financial accounting and reporting standards and other regulatory accounting standards (e.g., execution of the financial statement disclosure checklist).

  • Support the Technical Accounting Group by being able to research, document, and operationalize accounting for new or revised accounting policies as well as complex transactions, including, but not limited to the following areas: business combinations, strategic equity and debt investments, segment reporting, goodwill and intangible asset impairment testing, revenue recognition, leases, share based compensation, restructuring, financing transactions, divestitures.

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual corporate accounting for certain technical accounting areas, including noncontrolling interests, pensions, investments, intangible assets, among others.

  • Manage communications with external auditors on external financial statements and technical accounting transactions to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions on disclosures and reporting issues.

  • Research new regulations, pronouncements and internal technical issues and assist in implementation of solutions.

  • Present external reporting highlights and technical accounting findings to senior and executive management.

  • Support finance’s participation in newly emerging compliance driven ESG reporting, including recent SEC climate rules and EU’s CSRD.

  • Oversee the execution of internal controls related to external reporting and technical accounting.

  • Identify sustainable strategic improvements, suggest corrective actions, coordinate and assist in implementation of changes and related controls and track efficiencies achieved.

Job Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A. /B.S.) or equivalent in accounting or related discipline. Masters degree, such as accounting or business administration is beneficial.

  • Experience: Seven to ten years related experience with at least six of the required years with a national or regional CPA firm and/or publicly traded commercial company with consolidation. Experience with international accounting and financial reporting required.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

  • Certification/Licensure: CPA required.

Compensation Data

The pay range for this position is $140,000/yr. - $165,000/yr. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
