Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (CUSTOMER SUPPORT) - TITLE 32, Position Description Number PDD2525P01 and is part of the KY G6, National Guard. NOTE: Current on-board applicants (AREA 1, Title 32 employees) will retain current tenure and be temporarily promoted or reassigned, all others will be hired with indefinite tenure. Responsibilities As a IT SPECIALIST (CUSTOMER SUPPORT) - TITLE 32, GS-2210-9, you will install, configure, troubleshoot, and provide maintenance in response to customer requirements. Provide initial incident information to the Incident Response Specialty. Provide basic support for end-user hardware failures. Re-image customer workstations and resolve basic problems. Use programs and techniques to isolate causes of problems and user errors. Detect damaged or lost files, optimize disk management, measure system performance, control system security, and/or extend system capabilities to support local requirements. Troubleshoot and repair IT implementing Army standards and accepted practices. Notify team leader of significant trends in hardware/software implementation issues and any potential problems. Install, test, and prepare performance reports and recommendations on equipment. Work with users to test and evaluate software packages. Provide support and guidance on operating computers, equipment, and associated software. Receive, respond to, and ensure resolution of help center calls. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Military Grades: E5 (SGT) - O4 (MAJ) CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard. You must be assigned to a compatible military position. Wear of the military uniform. Position may require a pre-employment physical. May be subject to furlough actions. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation. Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus. Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility. This position is located on a tobacco free facility. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. This position conducts information assurance functions. The incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certification. Certification requirements are outlined in DOD instruction 8570.01-M. Must obtain and maintain Security+ Certification within six (6) months of appointment. Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: Experience that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months experience in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates (Example 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981 or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981), work schedule, and hours worked per week of employment. Education Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: To qualify for GS-2210 Title 32 Excepted Service positions, on the basis of completed graduate education listed below. Masters or equivalent graduate degree -OR- 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree All undergraduate or graduate education must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. To receive credit for education, you must provide OFFICIAL transcripts.
