Overview

ABM Performance Solutions (APS) is ABM’s self-delivered operational platform which incorporates all of ABM’s offerings into one consolidated service model. Specifically, APS is our multi-service performance model structured to maintain the built environment with self-delivered services including cleaning, energy, sustainability, safety, resiliency, power, mechanical, electrical, EV-charging, parking, and operating engineers. Governed by a single contract, APS helps our clients improve operations, drive outcomes, and enhance resiliency and reliability of their facilities while allowing them to better focus on their core business. The Vice President of Operations (VPO) for Performance Solutions (APS) for the Industry Group (IG) has full responsibility for all functional areas and activities within the IG related to APS but in alignment and under the guidance of the APS Enterprise Platform Team. Simply put, the APS Platform Team dictates and facilitates process while the VPOS: APS drives operational performance within and for the IG.

Job Objective

The VPO: APS for the IG executes operational processes in alignment with the APS Platform Team ensuring that clients outcomes are achieved, client/occupant/employee/passenger/student experience is positive (IG Specific), ABM financial objectives are met, and sales opportunities are reviewed and supported. The VPOS: APS is also engaged with the Client Experience & Operations Support (CE-OS) Team and APS Platform Team (which includes sales) on client pursuits, due-diligence, contract reviews, account transitions, strategic planning, and operational excellence initiatives.

The successful individual develops and implements operational improvement strategies, functions as the subject matter expert for APS for the IG, is the lead point of contact and business partner for ABM’s Enterprise APS Platform Team, has primary Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility for all APS accounts within the IG, is responsible for facilitating the achievement of all run rate and sales targets set by Corporate and/or the IG Leader and in partnership with the sales department, and is responsible for delivering high quality service that focuses on client satisfaction and profitable new business opportunities for all APS clients.

The VPO: APS performs the summary of duties either personally, through subordinate managers or through the IG Operational Network depending on the relative structure of said IG.

Furthermore, the VPO: APS is the designated subject matter expert for APS clients in the IG and the primary evangelist in partnering with the APS Enterprise Platform Team ensuring the execution of all standardized processes and procedures. The VPO: APS ensures alignment with the APS Enterprise Platform team and has a “dotted-line” reporting structure into the APS Platform Team with “hardline” reporting into the IG Leader.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, manage, and lead a management team with focus on service delivery, strong client relationships and continuous improvement. Select and development of Leaders at multiple levels and disciplines within the area of responsibility.

  • Creation of a strong operational culture based on an engaged and professional workforce in a highly collaborative team atmosphere.

  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to understand a P&L statement and identify opportunities for margin improvement and trend analysis.

  • Ability to develop an internal network (with Functional Groups) and external network (perspective clients, industry, etc.).

  • Proactively identify potential risks and assign proper resources to mitigate those risks.

  • Establish, implement, and communicate the strategic direction of the division; establish and implement policies, practices, and standards to ensure operational success.

  • Review and approve cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements.

  • Active participation in business development opportunities, including pricing, presentations, and perspective client engagements.

  • Assignment of pursuit teams for new business and retention teams for existing clients.

  • Collaborate with other executives, in particular ABM’s Client Experience & Operations Support Team and ABM’s Performance Solutions Team, to achieve organizational goals and objectives.

  • Identify, recommend, and implement processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline use of resources and materials.

  • Implement and integrate productivity measures and delivery methods to achieve planned ROI.

  • Ensure that quality standards are assigned, measured, and met.

  • Drive a culture of safety following required safety activities, inspections, and KPI’s.

  • Oversee several workflows simultaneously.

  • Drive decisions across multiple groups across the entire team.

  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications and Desired Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Engineering or Facilities related curriculum, and/or equivalent work experience.

  • 12+ years of experience in supporting/overseeing hard (skilled) and soft (non-skilled) operations for owners/operators of built environments.

  • Experience engaging in client relationships for top tier (US and/or multi-national) corporations or institutions.

  • Familiarity and experience with enterprise software solutions related to operating the built environment such as CMMS, BAS, BMS, WOM, and IWMS

  • Familiarity with emerging technologies such as IoT, VR, AI and Smart Buildings

  • Extensive experience in all aspects of Supplier Relationship Management

  • Strong understanding of client/market dynamics and requirements

  • Solid understanding of effective operating principles, practices of managing employees and the ability to effectively apply these principles to direct reports in support of a collegial, client-focused, and competent work unit

  • Ability to engage clients at a senior level and lead/support client business reviews, client presentations and client retention initiatives

  • Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders to ensure high levels of satisfaction and lay the foundation for continued growth and partnership.

  • Demonstrate a professional and adaptable demeanor with internal and external clients

  • Exercise a high degree of professionalism and self-motivation using personal initiative to identify and recommend best practices.
