Job Summary
The Export Terminal Shift Supervisor (ETSS) I works with a crew to facilitate the movement of grain at the VET. Under close supervision by the Director of the VET, the ETSS I will oversee the receiving, storage, handling, blending and loading of grain. In addition, this position will monitor the condition of the stored grain and supervise a crew for the maintenance and cleanliness of the grain facilities and equipment. Each employee is responsible for their safe work behavior and the safety of their coworkers and crew. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs tasks in a safe manner in compliance with safety programs and procedures.
Takes responsibility for own safe work behavior and assists in overseeing the safe work behavior of others.
Provide courteous and responsive interaction with vendors, contractors, coworkers, and crews. Demonstrates teamwork and genuine respect for others.
Maintain the elevator and facilities properly, safely, and with an emphasis on cleanliness through proper crew management.
Provide courteous and responsive communications with a variety of entities including railroads, barge lines, ship agents and crews, longshoremen, contractors, WSDA, NQI, etc.
Responsible for the unloading and proper binning of grain commodities by both rail and barge. This includes all planning, coordination, monitoring, supervision, and communication involved with the unloading process.
Responsible for ship loading to include proper blending to meet load order requirements and Company objectives. In addition, the shift supervisor is responsible for all planning, coordination, monitoring, supervision, and communication involved with the shipping process.
Observe conveyor operations and monitor HMI's to maintain specified operating levels and to detect equipment malfunctions.
Observes and listens to machinery operations to detect equipment malfunctions and informs others
