General Summary:

Responsible for providing technical and administrative support for computer systems, peripheral hardware and cybersecurity initiatives. Provide end user technical support and problem resolution. Assists the Network/Systems Administrator with all aspects of network administration. Responsible for providing technical and administrative support to ensure hardware and software operations run effectively within computer network.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Performs microcomputer system setup, software installation and configuration, and peripheral equipment installation and integration.

  • Install new and upgraded hardware and software as required. Monitors equipment performance, documents problems, schedules and completes hardware maintenance tasks as required, etc.

  • Conducts training and provides application software and peripheral hardware troubleshooting to end-users.

  • Assists with hardware and software stewardship and administration.

  • Performs routine system backups and data recovery.

  • Assists the Network/Systems Administrator in all aspects of network administration (user setup, security and access, standards, and procedures).

  • Manages and coordinates administrative and technical procedures in the absence of the Network/Systems Administrator.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Two-year degree in computer science ( Desktop Support, Network Specialist, Network Administration, Cybersecurity Specialist ).

  • Motivated self-starter

  • Requires good manipulative and problem-solving skills.

  • High-level working knowledge of interaction between microcomputer hardware and software.

  • Ability to effectively train end users in operation of PC and various software programs.

  • Support internal end user network.

Description of physical working environment:

  • Regularly works from a sitting position with computers. Repetitive typing and computer use required. Regular bending, twisting, and light lifting is common with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Flexible and extended work hours as needed.

  • Occasional Travel required.
