The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. The General Ledger Accountant monitors and enters transactions into the general ledger as well as sub ledgers. The GL Accountant creates and enters journal entries and performs complex account reconciliations. Additionally, the GL Accountant serves as a primary point of contact for external auditors and a key member of the team for ad hoc requests.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and enter journal entries.

  • Maintain, analyze, and reconcile assigned GL accounts and resolve issues and discrepancies.

  • Prepare analyses of other accounts as requested.

  • Collaborate with various departments to resolve any discrepancies.

  • Issue Monthly/ Quarterly reporting for Escheated checks to the state.

  • Take lead on process and project implementations.

    Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of (GAAP) generally accepted accounting principles and practices

  • Efficient research, planning, organizing and problem-solving skills

  • Detail oriented

  • Excellent writing and communication skills

  • Quick, independent and analytical thinker

  • Preferred Education, Experience and Licenses:

  • A degree (Bachelor’s) in accounting or finance.

  • Relevant accounting experience

  • Knowledge of Excel (V-lookups, Macros & Pivot Tables)

  • Retail experience a plus.

  • Knowledge of reporting tools (SQL) a plus

  • Experience with Blackline a plus.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
