Summary This position is located in a State or Area Office in USDA/Rural Development (RD). The incumbent deals with loans either made or guaranteed by the government and grants for very small commercial loans and grants. This position may be eligible for hiring incentives. Initial cutoff date for referral consideration will be 5/30/2024. This position is neither remote nor virtual. The employee will be expected to report in person to the assigned duty location. Responsibilities Reviews and analyzes preapplications, applications and all supporting documents to determine loan or grant eligibility and inputs data into appropriate automated database system. Prepares written loan/grant recommendations and submits to supervisor for review. Provides a wide variety of servicing actions for assigned less difficult loan cases. Works with a program specialist and/or supervisor in the development and implementation of an outreach and marketing program for the servicing area. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the cut off dates of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. For the GS-9 level: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07; or its non-Federal equivalent that demonstrate experience assisting higher graded specialists with loan underwriting, for example, experience processing mortgage, business, or commercial loans up to the point of final approval by a specialist with loan approval authority, i.e., examining applications, credit reports and other supporting documents; or assisting loan specialists with servicing activities on loans OR possess a Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR an LL.B. or J.D., if related (see qualifying fields of study below). Equivalent combination of education and experience are qualifying at this grade level. Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics, or other fields related to the position, such as agriculture, agricultural economics, farm, livestock or ranch management, or rural sociology.
