SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE
Forge Nano Inc. is a fast-growing materials company with a focus on
manufacturing nano-scale coatings across a wide range of markets. Forge Nano
is seeking an aspiring Mechanical Engineer I to join their Engineering Team.
The role reports to the Director of Engineering. This position will focus
primarily on the mechanical design of Atomic Layer Deposition equipment with
an emphasis on commercial powder equipment and cover topics related to the
material and chemical processes associated with this equipment.
The Mechanical Engineer I is responsible for generating system and/or
component designs and assemblies per customer or internal specification. The
role requires a thorough understanding of mechanical systems in the role of
vacuum deposition. The Mechanical Engineer I will be exposed to design and
documentation of equipment across lab, pilot, and commercial scales.
The Mechanical Engineer I should be prepared to Design-for-Manufacturing
(DFM) so that procurement of materials and assembly of components can be
based on 3D CAD assemblies conducted in Solidworks. 2D drawings will be
required for fabrication/inspection specification. High resolution renders
will be required for marketing material. Assembly instructions and
compositions will be required to produce equipment.
Experience with Solidworks, AutoCAD, Solidworks Composer, and Microsoft
Office Suite are desirable. Ability to read and interpret Piping and
Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs),
Electrical Schematics, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and hands-on
fabrication/testing experience is desired.
SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Mechanical Engineer I may be responsible for tasks and skills such as
(non-exhaustive):
Understands and implements designs to bring Powder Atomic Layer
Deposition (PALD) systems to applicable commercial tooling and safety
standards
Integrates key assemblies and features, per customer specification,
into PALD systems
Develops and standardizes processing chambers, precursor delivery,
valve manifolds, powder transfer/delivery, and facility interfacing
Generates in-house customer acceptance tests and deals with any testing
or troubleshooting associated with final assembly and integration
Advises customers and sales personnel on recommended features and cost
estimates for respective applications
Develops assemblies and 2D fabrication/inspection drawings for
component manufacturing
Assists with development and management of PDM/PLM software and
Solidworks library
Solicits vendors and manufacturers for RFIs, RFQs, and
fabrication, as needed
Builds and manages Bills of Materials (BOMs) and assisting with
procurement processes
Generates unique design solutions and writing invention disclosures
Presents design progress to engineering team and solicits design changes
Interprets P&IDs and PFDs to develop mechanical designs
Leads cost-effective prototyping to validate new design solutions
Develops modeling, design, and prototyping skills
Researches vacuum and ALD design principles to incorporate cutting-edge
technology
Leads or assists in the construction of prototypes and/or new product
builds
Researches and/or develops internal manufacturing and fabrication methods
