Job Description Summary
Shirley Ryan AbilityLab follows GAAP accounting and utilizes Workday as
an ERP. The role of Senior Accountant, Accounting Systems will be a
significant contributor to supporting continual efforts in further
developing and maintaining Workday accounting and financial reporting
functions. Working closely with leadership, the Senior Accountant,
Accounting Systems performs a variety of accounting duties such as
analyzing reconciling accounts, preparing journal entries, and
identifying and detailing accounting system and financial reporting
improvements.
The Senior Accountant will consistently demonstrate support of the

Job Description
The Senior Accountant:
- Prepares financial statement analyses including comparisons between
actual, budgeted and prior year results.
- Prepares general ledger journal entries for assigned accounts,
ensuring all activity is recorded, corrections are made and
adjustments are calculated and posted.
- Partners with various departments to support Workday software
service updates and feature releases.
- Liaise between accountants and report writers to test and validate
financial reports.
- Triage and support incoming accounting system questions from
operational leaders.
- Support in executing process improvement opportunities relating to
utilizing Workday.
- Contributes to the maintenance of accounting manuals and process
documentation.
- Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest
of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
Reporting Relationships
Reports directly to Associate Director, Accounting Systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting or related field. CPA and MBA
preferred.
- Minimum of five years of experience working in general accounting or
having reached the level of senior auditor in public accounting.
- Workday experience preferred but not required.
- Able to work independently on problems of diverse scope where
analysis of data or situations requires evaluation of identifiable
factors.
- Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for
obtaining solutions for difficult assignments and of diverse scope.
- Ability to analyze accounts and make decisions as appropriate.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
Working Conditions
Hybrid in-office and remote schedule. Normal office environment with
little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
