Duties: Troubleshoot and resolve database integrity issues, performance
issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log
shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.; detect and
troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU,memory,I/O, disk space and other
resource contention; strong knowledge of how indexes, index management,
integrity checks, configuration, patching and how statistics work, how
indexes are stored, how they can be created and managed effectively;
ensure database systems are maintained at the highest level of support in all
production and non-production environments; architect and provide DR and HA
solutions; expert in server, database and application security; provide
expert opinion and technical details for business applications by performing
capacity planning, workload modeling and prediction; provides enough
resources for applications' short and long-term growth; consult and advise
application development teams on database security, optimization and
performance; ensure the database management environments are updated with
current stable versions of software products; maintain currency with
operating system and support software; plan and implement major software
upgrades; ensure change management procedures and methodologies are
implemented and followed; participate in establishing processes, best
practices, strategies, and database management solutions including
development standards, backup/recovery, quality control,
DR/failover, monitoring, maintenance, metric reporting,
optimization, improvement, automation, etc. for SQL-Server;
troubleshoot & resolve Database performance issues to meet SLAs; automate
database building, maintenance tasks and routines; provide operational
support to satisfy internal reporting/data requests; and safeguard company
confidential data through appropriate IT security. May telecommute.
Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Software
Engineering, Information systems, Information technology, Computer
Science, or a related field and three years of experience in job offered or
in a Database Engineer/Administrator-related occupation.
1) Database Administration; 2) Tuning Queries; 3) relational
databases; 4) non-relational databases; 5) Cloud (Microsoft Azure
and AWS); 6) Microsoft SQL Server; 7) PostgreSQL; 8) Oracle; and 9) NoSQL.
