Job Description

Purchasing Department

Position: Purchasing Department Manager

Reports to: Company President

Collaborates with: Eden Foods Department Managers and Suppliers

Duties and Responsibilities

*The two-part, primary responsibility of the Purchasing Department is to 1.) Provide the company with maintained-accurate facts about the items they purchase. 2.) Achieve, within reason and to the best of the Department's ability, minimal out of stocks to the company's customers. * 1. Responsible for the activities and organization of the Purchasing Department

  1. Develop a purchasing strategy to satisfy Eden Foods' requirements, specifications, and achievement of goals

  2. Develop, maintain, and improve supplier and grower relationships to best ensure reliability and mutual understanding

  3. Foster a collaborative, cross trained culture in the Purchasing Department, and successfully support other company Departments' business functions and achievement of goals

  4. Maintain accurate and up to date records for the Department and company

  5. Train and lead Department staff with an emphasis on specifications, productive relationships, process improvement, process discipline, and teamwork

  6. Improve systems for product information accuracy, access, and use across the company

  7. Manage purchasing processes, documents, systems, and all other required tools to maximize the team's efforts and efficiency

  8. Manage and optimize inventory, fill rates, and purchase decisions related to ingredients and packaging

  9. Perform pricing analysis and forecasting

  10. Analyze market conditions, develop strategies to meet company and customer needs, contract good accordingly

  11. Negotiate favorable details of cost and terms for purchases

  12. Ensure procurement contracts are acceptable to the company and that they accommodate legal and company requirements regarding specifications, certifier, and government regulators

  13. Collaborate with purchasing team to generate ongoing improvements in efficiency and productivity of processes throughout the Department

Job Requirements

A. Suitable professional experience and education

B. Organized, attention to detail and accuracy. Problem solving skills and engagement

C. Knowledge of agricultural supply systems and perishable commodities

D. Straight forward and forthright communication skills, verbal and written, for both internal and external

E. Demonstrates a sense of urgency and works well with others

F. Flexible; ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities

G. Proficient with and willingness to learn use of Microsoft Office and Eden Foods' software programs

H. Supply Chain Management experience
