Community Concepts is seeking an Advocate/Navigator to serve as a single
point of contact for individuals and families that were impacted by the
mass violence event. The Maine Resiliency Center was developed in the
aftermath of the mass shooting event in Lewiston, ME, on October 25th,
2023. The Center provides resources and support to those impacted by
this mass violence event. This position is a temporary position, up to
27 months, with the possibility of an extension.
Essential Duties:
Provide overall case management support to individuals and families and
support center operations and activities.
Utilize a trauma-informed approach in all aspects of work at the center.
Complete needs assessment and maintain up-to-date care plans that
include progress toward goals.
Keep current with all information on program services and activities;
research other available community resources and programs to provide
information and referrals as needed.
Conduct community-based outreach as needed to support individuals and
families.
Document all applicable interactions and data as identified by the
center director.

Desired Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in social work or related field with at least three
years of related experience preferred.
Experience as a Victim Advocate preferred.
Other Requirements: Experience working with populations who have
experienced trauma and understanding of trauma-informed care. Strong
advocacy and problem-solving skills and strong knowledge of social
service programs. Must have excellent verbal and written communication
skills; ability to show patience and empathy; must remain in control in
emergency or crisis situations while displaying professionalism and
understanding its impact on customer service; proficient computer skills
for data accuracy.
Pre-employment physical, SBI, DMV, Maine Sex Offender Registry, DHHS,
fraud, and federal debarment background checks must be completed upon
offer of hire and as a condition of employment; valid and current
drivers license, and travel within the service area is required.
