CLASS TITLE: Water/Sewer Maintenance Worker II
PURPOSE OF THE CLASSIFICATION:
Responsible for performing unskilled and semi-skilled tasks; works on
individual job assignments or as a member of a work group engaged in
planned or scheduled general maintenance or renovation activities
involving City properties and facilities to include public buildings,
grounds, water and sewer facilities and streets. Duties often include
the operation of light to medium sized vehicles and construction
equipment.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
Repairs and replaces manholes; cleans, repairs and replaces sewer lines.
Operates hand and power tools including jack hammer, air compressor and
other hand and power tools.
Operates light to medium equipment including rodder, suction pumps,
flusher, tractors and loaders.
Paints, mixes cement and cuts grass.
Cleans catch basins, lays pipe, paints and silk screens traffic signs,
operates light truck, jack hammer and other hand tools and welding
equipment for the installation of traffic signs.
Assists skilled repairmen in plumbing repairs and performs minor repairs
to buildings and equipment.
Performs other work as necessary and or as assigned.
Must report to work on a regular and timely basis.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Water/Sewer Maintenance Worker II reports directly to the
Water/Sewer Maintenance Leader I.
The Water/Sewer Maintenance Worker II does not have any direct reports
or supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
but not required and one (1) year of experience as a trades helper or
maintenance laborer in any of the construction and maintenance trades,
preferably including some work experience involving the operation of
light to medium construction equipment.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Good knowledge of manual labor work
practices, methods, tools and materials of varied semi-skilled general
maintenance work; and good knowledge of the hazards and safety
precautions of the work. Ability to understand and follow verbal and
written instructions; ability to read and write; ability to use various
types of mechanical tools and equipment; ability to operate various
types of automotive and power equipment; and the ability to courteously
and tactfully communicate with fellow workers, supervisors, other
members of the organization and the public in giving and receiving
information. Skill in the operation of light to heavy automotive
equipment and in the use of pertinent tools and power equipment.

duties of this job, arm and hand steadiness and finger dexterity will be

sixty (60) pounds. Occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing
over sixty (60) pounds. Occasional reaching, balancing, stooping,
kneeling, crawling, twisting, handling and repetitive movements. Vision,
speech and hearing sufficient to perform es sential tasks. Punctuality
and reasonable attendance is essential. Must submit to drug screening
and fitness to work physical exam.
Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid Oklahoma Class B CDL is
required or ability to obtain within nine (9) months from appointment.
Must possess and maintain a Class D Waterworks license or ability to
obtain within nine (9) months from appointment and a Class D Wastewater
license or ability to obtain within nine (9) months.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work in this classification is both indoors and
outdoors. Will travel to other City locations as required. Requires
ability to work weekends, holidays and irregular hours. Requires ability
to maintain on-call status. Will be subjected to confined space
