Herkimer College is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Systems Programmer/Analyst.

The Systems Programmer/Analyst serves as a key contributor in the analysis, development, integration, and upkeep of the College's information systems. Tasked with the creation and ongoing maintenance of customized reports, this role significantly enhances the functionality and value of the institution's information systems across all departments.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Analyze, design, document and implement and test processes to satisfy user requirements.

B. Maintain, modify, and enhance local and third-party applications and documentation as

Required.

C. Provide user training for data access tools and data file handling where necessary.

D. Review, monitor and test system enhancements as supplied by remote Database Administrators in response to end user requirements and regulatory changes.

E. Maintain user level security of local and third-party processes.

F. Performs regular security and integrity checks; Perform troubleshooting and performance tuning/maintenance of systems, subsystems, and applications.

G. Research and propose professional development opportunities to stay current with

changing technologies.

H. Provides and maintains up-to-date internal documentation.

I. Maintains current knowledge of programming systems as it relates to support of Herkimer College's systems.

J. Serves on user group teams where necessary.

K. Takes an active role in the development of the departments strategic and operational plans as required by department leadership.

L. Provides 24/7 support on critical applications.

M. Provide basic knowledge of web development where possible.

ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with special processing such as term and year end.

  • Assists with annual operation, federal, state, and special audits.

  • Assists faculty and staff with local and third-party processes.

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

  • Associate degree in computer science with 3-5 years of relevant experience OR equivalent education and experience

  • Linux/Unix experience in a professional or academic environment

  • Proficient with PLSQL/SQL in a professional or academic environment.

  • Familiarity with database administration, Linux/Unix environments.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel

  • Business analysis (requirement analysis, assessment, and solution proposal) in a professional or academic environment.

  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

    Job Requirements:

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

  • Associate's degree in computer science with 3-5 years of relevant experience OR equivalent education and experience

  • Linux/Unix experience in a professional or academic environment

  • Proficient with PLSQL/SQL in a professional or academic environment.

  • Familiarity with database administration, Linux/Unix environments.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel

  • Business analysis (requirement analysis, assessment, and solution proposal) in a professional or academic environment.

  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

    PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science and 1-2 years of relevant experience

  • Familiar with database administration in a professional or academic environment

  • Proficient with SQL and Bash scripting

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI

  • Experience with Ellucian Banner is a plus.

  • Knowledge of API integration is a plus.

    Additional Information:

The salary range for this position is $41,620 - $62,430, based on qualifications and experience.
