Business Acceleration is a growth business within Brunswick Corporation, offering our employees the exciting culture of a start-up and the confidence of our parent company’s size and capabilities. As Operations Director, you will work with the Boateka Operations Manager and Marine Operations Centers (MOC) Managers to build and refine our refurbishment and maintenance processes, expand our supply chain and logistics capabilities as we scale, and manage new operating sites as we expand regionally.

Our current MOC locations are based in Venice, FL and Tarpon Springs, FL, while the Boateka Refurbishment Center is based in Merritt Island, FL. You will be required to periodically visit these locations and provide in person leadership and opportunity to work collaboratively with teams.

Provide cross-functional leadership to a team of supervisors, team leads, support staff and production employees in a manufacturing setting to ensure optimal value stream performance by utilizing manpower, facilities, equipment, materials and assets. Apply Lean Six Sigma methodology to achieve goals and implement all activities across departments. Recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions through listening, engaging employees and problem solving. Act as a company conduit for employee communications to keep employees abreast of news and information.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning / resourcing operations to meet goals and objectives. Onboard proper systems and processes to ensure schedule attainment, realize the highest degree of quality and meet target throughput.

  • Provide Operational Management leadership for refurbishment and maintenance operations and mentor / develop supervisors and team leaders.

  • Drive safety, quality, productivity performance in visual management format to sustain morale and achieve positive results in production area. Work to continuously improve in all areas and provide regular reports to VP Operations.

  • Monitor cost reductions, such as waste, scrap, damage and rework. Evaluate and monitor production flow to anticipate bottlenecks and disconnects that will affect output.

  • Visit MOC and Boateka locations in person to provide management and leadership support to teams.

  • Collaborate with Operations Manager on development of a single operations playbook that can be replicated at new sites across the country.

  • Identify issues, gather input from peers and employees and problem solve with recommendations and solutions.

  • Establish quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which operational efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated. Identify opportunities for improvement and coordinate team to drive execution of improvement initiatives.

  • Apply LSS process improvement methodologies and tools to achieve business objectives.

  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business procedures.

  • Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.

  • Ensures work environments are adequate and safe, builds and reinforces a positive culture.

  • Provide business leaders with support, tools and training to conduct project and performance reviews on an ongoing basis.

  • Ensure a positive approach to employee relations for all employees. Maintain effective lines of communication with employees, leads and peers. Build rapport and influence others in a positive manner.

  • Communicate to Supervisors, Team Leads and team members, information about departmental, facility and company events, changes, activities, policies, news and updates

  • Oversees manufacturing, purchasing, and logistics departments, ensuring each is reaching goals set by departmental and company leadership.

  • Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

  • Administer all policies and procedures as established fairly and consistently.

  • Lead by example; coach and mentor all assigned employees.

  • Support safety initiatives; policies and procedures to ensure plant operations are safe and consistent with company and governmental standards and help reduce accidents and injuries.

Additional Information:

  • This position is a full-time, salaried position with a terrific benefits package and bonus based on performance

  • Boateka and MOC current operations focus on the refurbishment and maintenance of recreational boats between 18’ – 27’

  • Travel within central Florida is required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations/Engineering/Manufacturing/Business or related field.

  • 7+ years of operational experience in multiple phases of Manufacturing, Quality or Engineering with experiences in leading cross functional teams.

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification by a recognized source preferred. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt with demonstrated history a minimum.

  • Proficiency in Lean tools, techniques and applying in Operational Management.

  • Proven ability to drive results through leadership influence.

  • Must have excellent verbal, written, listening and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively among all levels of an organization.

  • Demonstrated organizational and follow up skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and adapt to changing situations

  • Computer proficiency various software, including (i.e., Microsoft, Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Project). Simulation software experience is a plus.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to high sound levels, welding processes, moving forklifts, elevated loads, and close quarters. The successful candidate will demonstrate a safety mindset to other employees.
