The Streets Maintenance Worker I performs road maintenance on roadways throughout the city. This is accomplished by clearing fallen trees, limbs, etc. from roadway, clearing creeks to ensure water flow, repairing utility cuts and pavement failures and performing additional tasks as directed by crew leader.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs general maintenance work for an assigned street and roadway maintenance crew Drives a dump truck and performs routine inspections of the assigned truck prior to each use Participates in the on-call rotation. Sets work traffic control on every job and special events Assists skilled maintenance workers in operating equipment

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Requires a High School Diploma.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to use small/light equipment, such as power tools. Ability to use medium equipment and machinery, such as vehicles. Ability to cooperate with fellow employees as a team member.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires a Class B CDL Drivers license. Must acquire this license within 90 days of employment.

NOTE: The Streets Maintenance Worker I position progresses to a Streets Maintenance Worker II after two years as a Streets Maintenance Worker I with the City of Duncanville (assuming incumbents have the requisite skills/increased responsibility and there is a Maintenance II position open).
