Overview
The Manager of Human Resources assists unit leadership in understanding and communication of HR policies and procedures, and handling compliance issues. Will directly manage a staff of three HR support staff including employee recruitment and payroll functions. This position directly manages HR functions for approximately 300 employees at our three-(3) operating locations throughout the Portland and Beaverton areas. This position is a 100% in-person position with frequent required travel locally within the Portland metro area.

Responsibilities
Consults with operations management on human resource issues related to hiring, compensation, training and development, disciplinary actions, and terminations
Interprets and assists with the understanding of human resource policies and procedures
Ability to work and support union and non-union employees.
Experience with union collective bargaining agreements preferred, but not required
Manages compliance issues; identifies local compliance risks and pro-actively plans to mitigate risks
Manages the hiring process including candidate screening, hiring, new employee set-up, payroll, and leaves of absence
Serves as the liaison between the unit and the Regional Human Resource Director
Coaches and mentors assigned employees; assigns work according to availability, skills, and developmental needs; assesses performance and provides feedback to direct reports.
Maintains confidentiality of all information
Meets all required deadlines identified for your department
Ability to flex work schedule to meet with employees on non-standard work schedules including weekends, evenings or early mornings
Other duties as required
Qualifications
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Preferred:
High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
PHR/SHRM certification is preferred, but not required upon DOE
Must have to ability to obtain HR Certification within the first six months of employment.
Experience:
- Five to seven years of relevant human resource experience, including recruiting, selection, and employee relations, required.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
Understanding of employment laws and regulations
Experience working in a union shop preferred
Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to read, understand, and interpret instructions, policies, and procedures
Strong written and oral communication skills; strong presentation skills
HRIS, ADP, and investigative experience preferred
Knowledge of DOT drug and alcohol regulated employment preferred
Ability to work with public agencies and staff and represent Transdev with professionalism at all times
Travel requirement: Frequent local travel to meet the needs of the business required, over-night travel <5%
