The Correctional Case Manager is responsible for providing direct case
management for incarcerated individuals at the Barnstable County
Corrections Facility. Case management includes administering risk/need &
other validates assessments, providing reentry support, responding to
inmate needs during their incarceration, etc. The Case manager is also
responsible for facilitating groups & classes as directed by the
Director of Inmate Services. The Case Manager monitors program
compliance of all individuals sentenced or detained at the Barnstable
County Correctional Facility, ensuring that established policies &
procedures are followed. Duties & Responsibilities: Interviews &
assesses the inmate population; addresses social, vocational, criminal &
educational histories for the purpose of determining individual inmate
needs. Participates in inmate reentry planning. Supports the endeavors
of team management with security, clinical staff & community treatment
providers to work in harmony. Establishes & maintains counseling
relationships with incarcerated individuals in order to enhance the
individuals? institutional adjustment, rehabilitation & reintegration.
Prepares & writes treatment plan/ISP & revies, which can be used
internally & for outside agencies. Establishes & maintains individual &
group relationships with community bases programs, associations,
businesses, citizens & citizen groups & individual educational programs
to enhance program services to the inmate population. Reports violations
of institutional rules & regulations. Maintains & records necessary &
relevant information on the inmate population dealing with both
individuals & community concerns. Functions as a liaison between the
inmate population & staff. Qualifications Job Competencies: Excellent
verbal & written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office
Suite or related software. Organized with attention to detail. Excellent
interpersonal skills. Maintain good attendance. Ability to maintain
accurate records. Ability to interact with people who are under physical
&/or emotional stress. Ability to prepare reports, analyze & determine
the applicability of data, draw conclusions & to make appropriate
recommendations. Ability to prioritize & problem solve in a
high-pressure environment. Ability to exercise discretion & good
judgement & to handle confidential information. Ability to maintain
positive working relationship with inmates while preserving strong
boundaries. Working knowledge of Corrections terminology, procedures, &
interrelationships of the criminal justice system & recovery programs.
Minimum qualifications: A Bachelor\'s Degree from an accredited
four-year college or university in counseling, social work or related
area of study is required. A Master?s Degree from an accredited
four-year college or university in counseling, social work or related
areas of study is preferred but not required. A minimum of three (3)
years of experience in a social case work is required. A minimum of one
(1) years of experience in corrections is preferred but not required. Or
an equivalent combination of education & experience. General knowledge
of the goals & operations of aftercare support programming. Work
Environment: This position does require working with in the Barnstable
County Correctional Facility for up to eight (8) hours per day. This
position does require working with individuals currently incarcerated at
the Barnstable County Corrections Facility.
