Reports To: Product Coordinating Manger

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: As a member of the Martin’s Family, a Product Coordinator CDL c oordinates the flow of stale and finished fresh product for distribution and return processing and prepares orders for distribution in an efficient and accurate manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Transports finished product via an electric -jack from the palletizer to the storage location or a tractor-trailer in an accurate and orderly fashion.

  • Ensures each pallet is strapped correctly.

  • Maintains the supply of pallets to the palletizing machines.

  • Removes broken or dirty baskets and pallets from circulation.

  • Examines and removes any defective product from the pallets.

  • Checks product clips to ensure the accurate color, price, and date are used.

  • Receives, picks, verifies, and loads product orders.

  • Attaches or marks identifying tags or labels to product or materials.

  • Installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent the shifting and damage of loads while in transit.

  • Unloads returned product from tractor-trailers and transports to the stale area.

  • Empties baskets, tubs, and pallets of stale product into the stale machine.

  • Operates and fills the stale machine.

  • Monitors and fills the basket lines with empty baskets.

  • Maintains the cleanliness of the trailers, stale room, and warehouse.

  • Adheres to safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.

    Over-the-Road Driving:

  • Drives truck to destination.

  • Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition.

  • Maintains driver log according to I.C. regulations.

  • Jockeys tractor-trailer at plant locations.

    Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Two years’ CDL driving experience, related jockeying experience helpful

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Class A license is required. A class A license is issued to those persons 18 years of age or older who have demonstrated their qualifications to operate any combination of vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, provided the gross vehicle weight rating of the vehicle or vehicles being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds. The holder of a Class A license is qualified to operate vehicles for which a Class B or Class C license is issued. Where required, appropriate endorsements must be obtained.

    Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Meets Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical requirements.

  • Abides by federal motor carrier regulations.

  • Ability to operate or learn to operate an electric jack.

  • Drives during night-time hours.

  • Works with little to no supervision.

    Language Skills:

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
