EAC Network, a not-for-profit social service agency that empowers, assists, and cares for over 62,888 people in need through 100 programs across Long Island and NYC, seeks a Driver to work part -time for its Port Washington Senior Community Service Center (SCSC) program.

The Driver position is a non-exempt position paying $20 per hour. Work schedule includes Monday-Friday 9:00AM-3:00PM at the Point Washington, NY Senior Center. The role reports to the Center Manager.

    Primary Purpose of Job:

    The Driver is responsible for transporting elderly participants to and from the Port Washington Senior Community Service Center (SCSC).

    Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Transport participants to and from the Port Washington SCSC.

  • Provide safe transportation by adhering to all safety rules of the road and exercising appropriate driving judgment including checking that all individuals on the vehicle are utilizing seat belts at all times.

  • Maintain program vehicle(s), informing Center Manager of any problems. Keep a record of the vehicle repairs.

  • Maintain transportation lists and contact center members to inquire about transportation reservations.

  • Maintain proper levels of gasoline and oil in program vehicle(s), and keep the interior of the vehicle(s) clean.

  • Maintain a daily mileage log.

  • Assist with serving meals, kitchen clean-up, daily activities set up and clean up.

  • Adhere to all policy and procedures set forth in EAC Networks Personnel Manual and Agency Driver Policy.

  • May occasionally be required to assist at another EAC Senior Program location during normal working hour.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

  • Valid NY State Commercial Driver's License, with passenger endorsement with no record of suspensions.

  • Must take a defensive driving course every 3 years and submit verification.

  • Ability to read and interpret a map/GPS as necessary.

  • Ability to communicate with and understand the needs of the elderly.

  • Ability to complete all required paperwork necessary to perform work assignments.
