JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The School of Visual Arts (SoVA) in the College of Arts and Architecture (A&A) is looking for a motivated and talented person to join our administrative team. You will be detail-oriented and organized while providing direct administrative and professional support in a fast-paced office environment. You must be able to perform a wide variety of complex tasks with minimal supervision as well as work as a part of our team.

The College of Arts and Architecture is working to establish a culture of anti-racism and anti-oppression that embraces each person’s identity, fosters a culture of inclusion, and promotes equity through curricula, values, standards, ideals, policies, and practices. The successful candidate will provide evidence of equitable considerations, awareness, and practice regarding inclusivity in educating and working with a diverse population to cultivate an environment that enables success and allows all members of a community to thrive.

The successful candidate’s primary duties may include the following:

  • Undergraduate program assistance and engagement

  • Furnish primary assistance for the School of Visual Arts' seven undergraduate programs including overseeing SoVA’s entrance-to-major process

  • Facilitate portfolio reviews for transfer and change-of-campus requests and work with the college advising office to inform students of findings

  • Provide opportunities for SoVA’s first and second year students to engage with faculty and their cohort

  • Coordinate activities such as Accepted Student Days and high school group visits with the College of Arts and Architecture

  • Oversee the annual scholarship awarding process for the school in conjunction with SoVA faculty and the college development office

  • Aid with undergraduate enrollment and scheduling for SoVA majors and non-major students who enroll in general education coursework in the school

  • Maintain undergraduate student records

  • SoVA communications and outreach

  • Manage SoVA’s social media presence on Instagram

  • Coordinate SoVA’s submissions to college and university newsletters

  • Provide materials about the school to prospective students as requested

  • Create weekly news bulletin for staff and faculty of SoVA

  • General office assistance

  • Serve as receptionist for SoVA representing the school in a professional and welcoming manner

  • Perform tasks including replying to phone and email queries and distributing mail and packages

Required skills and experience include:

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)

  • Experience with standard office procedures

  • The ability and willingness to learn job-related software

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills

  • The ability to work with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds

This position typically requires a High School Diploma or higher and 2+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$38,300.00 - $55,500.00
