The Senior Dev Ops Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will design and evaluate devops processes and controls to comply with information protection policies and standards as well as industry best-practices. Design and implement infrastructure needed to support software development and deployment. Establish and maintain a continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipeline for build, test and deployment processes to enable rapid and reliable software releases. Set up and maintain monitoring and logging systems to track performance, availability, and health of software and infrastructure. Automate repetitive tasks and workflows using scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Research and learn AWS (Amazon Web Services) services and pilot new patterns that reduce amount of maintenance while improving application performance. Implement configuring access controls, manage encryption, and apply security best practices to protect cloud infrastructure and data. Investigate and troubleshoot incidents by analyzing logs, metrics, and performance data, as well as collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues promptly and minimize downtime. Work with CI/CD concepts and tools, including GitLab or Jenkins, testing concepts, change management, blue/green, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code including Terraform. Document and maintain technical documentation, including infrastructure architecture, data ingestion process, deployment processes, and troubleshooting guides. Telecommuting permitted. Salary \$108,568- \$194,350 per year. Minimum Requirements: Master\'s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field, plus 2 years (or a bachelor\'s degree plus 5 years) of experience as a software development engineer or related occupation. Experience must include 2 years with each of the following: (1) developing and maintaining software applications using Python, Javascript, and Powershell; (2) CI/CD concepts and tools, including GitLab or Jenkins, testing concepts, change management, blue/green, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code including Terraform; (3) Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure; (4) monitoring tools, including ELK Stack, Splunk, CloudWatch, Grafana, and Prometheus; (5) writing scripts to automate routine tasks, configuration management, and deployment process; and (6) managing and troubleshooting systems, networks, and security configurations.
