TRIO Student Support Services Program seeks a P/T Program Specialist (WCC). The P/T Program Specialist (WCC) contributes to the student success initiatives and coordinates the administrative activities of the TRIO Student Support Services grant program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education. This on-campus, part-time and grant-funded position is contingent upon the availability of funds. The responsibilities of the P/T Program Specialist will include the following:

  • Welcome and screen office visitors and telephone calls;

  • Develop and maintain accurate, up-to-date student database and records, including documentation of required grant files, student program eligibility documentation, academic & tutorial progress reports, contacts, and follow-up information, etc.;

  • Conduct outreach to TRIO students about program eligibility, registration, advisement, and graduation audits and, provides assistance and information regarding program objectives;

  • Assist the TRIO SSSP Director in identifying, interviewing, and selecting student participants;

  • Conduct regular outreach to faculty and other college staff as needed to support student success;

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of coordinated academic services for TRIO SSSP participants, including conducting students' workshops, preparing newsletters, flyers and brochures and accompanying students on field trips to other colleges and cultural events;

  • Work in close conjunction with the Director to ensure program objectives and recruitment goals are achieved;

  • Assist Program Director and Counselor in preparing annual reports using files and databases that are kept up to date throughout the year;

  • Coordinate and maintain calendar of appointments for counseling of TRIO students;

  • Maintain records, coordinate appointments, and arrange travel;

  • Maintain inventory of program supplies and equipment; requisitions supplies and materials as needed;

  • Participate in assessment activities and presentations;

  • Participate in staff and professional development meetings.

    Job Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in the field of education, educational administration, recruitment and/or training, program operations, marketing or customer services is required. The successful candidate must possess effective oral and written communication skills and have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while remaining organized. Also required is proficiency in software systems including Microsoft Office applications, as well as a detail-oriented approach to data entry and tracking. The successful candidate will be able to relate well with students and colleagues, have strong project management and facilitation skills, and have the ability to work with a team of diverse faculty, staff and students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working in an educational institution is preferred. Bilingual verbal and written fluency strongly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn a variety of software packages used in program operation is also preferred.

POSITION EFFECTIVE: The position will remain open until filled.

WORK SCHEDULE: This is an on-campus, part-time position for 28 hours per week.

HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $34.60/hour. No benefits. This position is fully grant funded.
