Summary:

Tetra Tech Rooney, a Tetra Tech Inc. business unit that provides consulting engineering primarily to the oil and gas midstream industry, is currently seeking a Pipeline and Facilities Design Engineer to be based in our Billings, MT office.

Your Role:

This position provides engineering support for pipeline, pump station, and terminal/tank projects nationwide. You will participate in a multi-disciplinary project team. A successful candidate will bring design engineering and technical expertise to a team of established consultants with a proven track record of 40 years in the Oil & Gas Industry.
Performs duties under general direction.
Assigns and reviews the work of subordinate engineers and project support staff.
Makes important decisions and recommendations on highly technical or complex matters.
Shows proven sound judgment and initiative in the interpretation of policies, and in the planning and execution of important projects.
Develops and recommends improvements in design standards.
Address complex design and engineering problems.
Pipe routing and overall facility site layout.
Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and P&ID Development.
Hydraulic calculations, line sizing, pipe material grade and wall thickness selection, and Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP) calculations.
Equipment specification and sizing, including pumps, motors, metering, sampling, storage tanks, relief valves, pipe, valves, and fittings.
Development and ongoing updates to project scopes of work, engineering design basis documentation, and construction bid packages.
Conducting field investigations and gathering applicable data to support detailed engineering and design for both greenfield sites and the upgrade, modification, and expansion of existing infrastructure.
Coordination and expediting, as necessary, for all assigned project procurement activities, including the review and approval of all equipment and material engineering specifications and technical data sheets, Request for Quotation ("RFQ") and Request for Purchase ("RFP") packages, coordinating responses to vendor clarification requests, evaluating vendor proposals, and overseeing the selection of equipment and materials that meets the project design requirements.
Coordinate compliance and permitting efforts.
Develop detailed designs of pipelines, compressor/pump stations, and other facilities related scope of work.
Cost estimating.
Schedule development.
May be required to seal engineering drawings as the engineer of record.


Qualifications:
B.S. in ABET accredited Engineering program.
5-10 years of relevant experience.
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE).
Willingness to attain PE licensure.
Knowledge in the Midstream Oil & Gas industry.
Strong understanding of applicable engineering standards (ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, etc.) and Industry standards and regulations (CFR 192 and CFR 195, NACE, etc.).
Experience coordinating with client SME's/stakeholders and offsite team members.
