At the U, the Academic Advising Center (AAC) promotes a transformative undergraduate experience by advocating for and empowering undergraduate students as they explore, develop, and take responsibility for achieving their academic goals. We serve as the academic home for exploring studentsthose exploring majors, professional paths, or tools for success.We are seeking three individuals to join our Orientation & Outreach Advising and Milestone Advising Programs as academic advising coordinators. These individuals would lead the coordination of outreach programming, contributions to first-year and transfer student orientations, early college student support, and our campus-wide Milestone Advising Program. The Orientation and Outreach Advising Program provides high quality advising to ensure both newly admitted and prospective students feel encouraged by the thought of what college can be, motivated to begin exploring majors early, and empowered to make informed decisions. Our teams advisors present about academic advising to all newly admitted students, both first-year and transfer, and we aim for every student to start their college journey with a positive advising experience and vision of the university as a place of possibility. We are a collaborative and dynamic team, looking to hire two individuals who are committed to college access, energized by working with students and their supporters, and passionate about coordinating programming that supports new students as they identify pathways for personal and academic exploration. Milestone Advising is a campus-wide advising program administered through the Academic Advising Center and housed within the Major Exploration Program. At certain milestones in each students academic career, they are required to meet with their academic advisor. This individual plays a key role in coordinating campus-wide consistent communications to students and the advising community and in collaborating with colleges to ensure students know when and how to access academic advising. We are looking for an individual who cares deeply about all students access to quality advising, thinks creatively about providing tailored, holistic supports to students, and incorporates a data-informed approach to promote timely interventions and conversations with students.Like all members of the Academic Advising Center team, these positions will assist the university in promoting a climate of respect and belonging that cultivates and sustains transformative spaces of possibility where people feel safe, valued, welcomed, and respects all students in their quest for individual success through degree programs, certificates, majors, etc. In addition to program coordination, these individuals will advise students from all backgrounds in areas such as academic standards, major exploration, degree completion, new student orientation advising, policies and procedures, general education, and baccalaureate degree requirements.
