Required: * Valid driver\'s license and 3 years driving experience * CPR certification * Clear Criminal History Check through the Children\'s Services Division * Significant, relevant experience relating to youth and understand issues around at-risk youth * Provide leadership, inspiration, and display appropriate values to residents * communicate clearly and effectively * Competent in Microsoft Office programs Summary: The Residential Counselor will work under the supervision of the Program Manager. A Peer Support Specialist will conduct engaging mentoring sessions with the residents. The Residential Counselor will develop a trusting relationship with the residents and assist them in the following: * Transition to living independently * Develop effective strategies and life skills to work towards individual personal goals * Provide overall personal support * Assist with the navigation of daily stressors Duties Include: * Responsible to maintain a safe and structured environment * Exercise confidentiality and discretion in all areas * Coordinate crisis intervention to residents after hours * Coordinate application process in conjunction with the Programs Director and ILP Caseworker * Schedule and facilitate house meetings weekly * Facilitate Independent Living Program objectives * Mediate conflicts between house residents * Educate residents how to operate day-to-day responsibilities * Respond appropriately and effectively in unexpected situations or crises * Provide positive influences and exhibit a high standard of ethics to all clients * Coordinate and communicate effectively with other community agencies and service providers * Professional appearance and manner at all times * Assist with other activities as requested * Requires flexibility to meet the demands of residents Hours: * 32-40 hours per week * Includes day, evening, and night shift * Will work holidays and weekends as needed
