The University of Miami Health System, "UHealth", IT Department has an exciting opportunity for a Palo Alto Cybersecurity Lead Engineer. The Palo Alto Cybersecurity Lead Engineer develops, implements, and monitors the University’s information security technology environment to protect the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of all institutional data and systems. The Palo Alto Lead Engineer will play a vital role in fortifying the University of Miami’s network security, ensuring the protection of our digital infrastructure which aligns with our commitment to operational excellence and innovation. The role is critical for maintaining the safety and integrity of our IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless and secure operations across the organization . The incumbent will directly impact the University of Miami’s ability to safeguard its digital assets, maintain regulatory compliance, and ensure the continuous delivery of high-quality services to our clients and stakeholders.

  • Plans, designs, tests, implements and maintains an organization's computer and network security infrastructure.

  • Designs, builds, implements and supports enterprise-class security systems.

  • Plans, researches and designs robust security architectures for any IT project.

  • Performs or supervises vulnerability testing, risk analyses and security assessments.

  • Creates solutions that balance business requirements with information and cybersecurity requirements.

  • Deploys, configures, and manages technology associated with security infrastructure. Reviews and approves installation of firewall, VPN, routers, IDS scanning technologies and servers.

  • Designs security solutions and processes by evaluating network and security technologies.

  • Develops requirements for local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), routers, firewalls, and related security and network devices.

  • Develops security solutions and processes to support different compliance environments such as HIPAA, PCI, FDA Part 11, and HIPAA; and demonstrates hand-on experience with the NIST cybersecurity framework.

  • Performs and oversees risk assessment and analysis, conducts system and application vulnerability evaluations to provide corrective actions, coordinates security penetration testing, and oversees on-site partner assessments.

  • Maintains security by monitoring and ensuring compliance with standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Upgrades security systems by monitoring security environment, identifying security gaps and evaluating and implementing enhancements.

  • Prepares system security reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.

  • Collaborates with compliance and quality control areas.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

  • Other tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent professional experience in network security.

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional Security

  • Cloud Security Certification

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience

  • Proficient in network protocols, routing and switching concepts, and the ability to troubleshoot complex network security issues.

  • Familiarity with various firewall management tools and security monitoring technologies.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make quick, informed decisions.

  • Familiarity with Palo Alto Networks Prisma Access VPN solution .

  • Ability to configure Prisma service connections and Prisma HIP checks.

  • Familiarity with SASE targets .

  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.

  • Knowledge of business and management principles.

  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
