POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Youth Career Coach is responsible for providing comprehensive
support to youth with disabilities, empowering them to achieve their
employment goals and foster greater independence. This role involves
working closely with individuals to assess their skills, interests, and
needs, and to develop personalized strategies for obtaining and
maintaining competitive integrated employment. This is an hourly
position and reports to the ETM Supervisor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Individualized Career Planning: Conduct assessments and collaborate
with youth to develop personalized career plans tailored to their
interests, abilities, and goals.
- Employment Preparation: Provide guidance and support in resume
writing, interview skills, job search strategies, and workplace
etiquette to enhance employability.
- Job Placement Assistance: Assist youth in identifying suitable job
opportunities, accessing job training programs, and connecting with
employers who value diversity and inclusion.
- Workplace Accommodations: Advocate for reasonable accommodations and
assistive technologies to ensure equal access and success in the
workplace.
- Job Coaching and Support: Provide ongoing coaching and support to
help youth navigate challenges, develop effective workplace habits,
and thrive in their chosen careers.
- Retention Strategies: Implement retention strategies to support
youth in maintaining employment, including conflict resolution,
stress management, and professional development opportunities.
- Community Resources Referral: Connect youth with relevant community
resources, such as vocational rehabilitation services, independent
living programs, and peer support networks.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of client
interactions, progress, and outcomes, and generate reports as
required by funding sources or regulatory agencies.
- Collaboration and Networking: Collaborate with employers, educators,
vocational counselors, and other stakeholders to create inclusive
environments and expand employment opportunities for youth with
disabilities.
