GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Wyoming Department of Health, Public Health Division (Division) is seeking an At-Will Employee Contract (AWEC) Opioid Overdose Prevention Coordinator. This position will manage the Overdose Data to Action Grant and specific activities supporting the planning and implementation of opioid overdose prevention programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Writes, coordinates, implements, and oversees grant and contract activities.

  • Designs and executes program activities; formulates, recommends, and implements changes for key prevention strategies including clinician/health system engagement, public safety partnerships, and community linkage to care.

  • Compiles and/or reviews budgets and narratives for submission and approval.

  • Collaborates with key stakeholders and builds strong working relationships.

  • Stay current on the science and evidence-based practices for opioid use and overdose prevention.

  • Participate in strategic planning, implementation, and policy development.

  • Assist the Unit Manager in program planning activities, as well as other projects as assigned to help achieve program goals.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference will be given to a Bachelor's degree in business administration, education, psychology/social science or services, public health, public administration, or related field with 1-3 years of progressive work experience managing a health services program. A Master’s level degree or higher may be substituted for experience.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of contracting, budgeting, procurement, and payments.

  • Excellent reasoning analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Detail-oriented and highly accurate

  • Professional, enthusiastic, positive attitude, able to collaborate, communicate, and cooperate with multiple cross-functional partners

  • Strong in building working relationships and responding to the needs of partners and stakeholders

  • Ability to work in a team with a spirit of cooperation

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at various stages of progress

  • Ability to work independently under tight schedules

  • Skills in problem-solving and decision-making

  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply data

  • Ability to travel

  • Knowledge and skills with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and web-based scheduling tools.
