Department Information

The Title V Cooperative Grant provides support for transfer and incoming students through several academic programs. The goals of the grant are to facilitate increased transfer, support on-time graduation, and develop articulation agreements between Pikes Peak State College (PPSC) and CSU Pueblo. This may include working with high school students who have community college transfer credit.

Description of Job

The Transfer Advisor will be responsible for orienting, advising, and retaining students for all departments represented at CSU Pueblo at Pikes Peak. The advisor will also engage in outreach to transfer students within the El Paso County, and other satellite campuses, including but not limited to ACC Sturm, CSU Pueblo at Spanish Peaks, Fort Carson, and SPUR.

The Satellite Campuses have different hours of operation, and may require this position to work an adjusted day or hourly schedule to accommodate our student population.

This position is funded through 09/30/25 by the LaGente grant. Continuation of the position beyond that date is dependent on renewal of grant funding.

Primary Duties:

Case Management

  • Advise, register, monitor, and maintain a caseload of continuing, and transfer students for all programs located at CSU Pueblo at Pikes Peak. Help students in one-on-one meetings to select and register for classes. Assist students in connecting with other departments on campus including the academic department of their major.

  • Create and present workshops on university policies, degree audits and course registration.

  • Work with new transfer students to ensure a smooth transition to CSU Pueblo at Pikes Peak.

  • Meet individually and in groups with students to develop structured Student Success Plans and DARS reports. Track student academic progress. Conduct individualized follow-up sessions to provide support to students.

  • Utilize Starfish enrollment management system to identify students at risk and provide academic interventions as well as make referrals when elicited.

Liaison

  • Work closely with the academic departments and faculty advisors to ensure that students are taking correct classes for major.

  • Work individually with faculty and staff from appropriate offices to ensure that related academic problems experienced by caseload of students are satisfactorily resolved.

  • Work with high school partners, supporting dual enrollment needs.

Outreach

  • Attend on- and off-campus outreach events and conduct educational presentations in local educational institutions to support enrollment growth at the Sturm campus.

Data Collection

  • Collect both quantitative and qualitative data related to each student, major and caseload. Generate reports based on collected data.

  • Conduct program evaluations. Report results of evaluation.

  • Contribute to end-of-semester and annual reports on student success, persistence and retention

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university

  • Experience with, or commitment to, working in a team environment and with a diverse population of students

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, communications, psychology or social work

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience advising at an institution of higher education

  • Experience with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
