Summary

The Manager Technical Training & Development (E-Learning) is responsible for working with multiple levels of NYPA technical and subject matter experts to identify and implement online or technology-based training programs across a variety of fields for all NYPA personnel. Develops e-learning courses using industry approved software and has oversight of all internal and outsourced e-learning development. The primary focus will be to work with business units to identify training needs that are best met by online training deployed through the LMS or other methods. This will include state and federal regulatory compliance training, operations and maintenance training, and support for various departments across the organization such as cyber security, procurement, and finance.The role will implement intake and tracking processes that reduce time to delivery while ensuring cost and quality constraints are met. Will work closely with corporate strategy and other departments to align training with career pathways and support NYPA’s strategic vision and foundational pillars.#LI-AE1

Responsibilities

  • Oversee design, development, and delivery of training solutions for all NYPA business units by working with site and department leadership.

  • Provide implementation support for deployment of state-of-the-art training technologies, methodologies, and industry standards for apprentice training.

  • Work with various subject matter experts (SMEs), trainers, and other experts in the continued development of programs.

  • Evaluate and track apprentice progress through all phases of classroom training.

  • Support required administrative records for internal and external customers.

  • Oversee day-to-day management of Technical Training Instructors and developers, in addition to hiring, motivating, developing, and performance management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work with multiple technical backgrounds - such as mechanical, electrical, power generation and power distribution, process controls, engineering, safety, regulatory – to implement learning program design, training development and delivery.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, particularly Word and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to manage bargaining unit and salary personnel.

  • Able to organize and work under strict time and production deadlines, while producing quality deliverables.

  • Possesses excellent written, verbal , and presentation skills.

  • Able to effectively communicate to internal and external personnel at all levels of organizations.

  • Highly self-motivated and self-managed; able to work independently and as part of a team with minimal coaching or supervision.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree. Technical field or Organizational Leadership/Instructional Design preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in formal technical training

  • In lieu of degree, combined minimum of 8 years formal training experience in a technical field coupled with 1st level supervisor experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of performing all training functions involved with coordination of courses.

  • Lift, move and assemble items weighing up to 30lbs as needed for classes.

  • Able and willing to travel up to 30% of the time.

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position in the Clark Energy Center is: $108,740.00 - $149,510.00 and $127,200.00 - $174,900.00 for this position in the White Plains Office.
