Key job responsibilities

At AWS, we're seeking a Senior Specialist Technical Account Manager (STAM) to be a trusted advisor and help our customers achieve operational excellence at scale. In this role, you'll leverage your extensive technical knowledge to ensure our customers' container solutions are flexible, scalable, and resilient on the AWS platform.

In this role, your in-depth understanding of containers will be instrumental in guiding customers through best practices for deployment, enabling cost-effective and scalable solutions that drive innovation. With a wide sphere of influence, you'll shape strategies, build mindshare, and drive the adoption of AWS container solutions across a diverse range of organizations, from agile startups to established enterprises.

Additionally, you'll play a crucial role in enhancing our overall container capabilities by enabling and upskilling our AWS teams. This is a post-sales advisory role within our Strategic Industries Enterprise Support team, where you'll have the opportunity to further develop your technical, leadership, and consulting skills.

A day in the life

As a deeply technical and consultative Container STAM, you will provide strategic guidance on people, processes, and technologies to ensure Strategic Industries Enterprise Support customers realize the benefits of container services while embedding operational excellence from day 1. You will partner with other TAMs, Solutions Architects (SAs), and service teams to provide customers with AWS container best practice guidance, diving deep into container services like Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS), Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and more. Your role will involve facilitating customers' container workloads to production environments, developing container strategies, and training field teams on the use cases and benefits of container services. Additionally, you will share expertise on container orchestration, management, monitoring, security, networking, and integration with other AWS services to customers.

This position will require the ability to travel 20% or more as needed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in internal enterprise or external customer-facing environment as a technical lead

  • Experience with AWS services or other cloud offerings

  • Experience with operational parameters and troubleshooting for three (3) of the following: compute/storage/networking/CDN/databases/DevOps/big aata and analytics/security/applications development in a distributed systems environment

  • Experience with design, development and / or running operations using container orchestrators like Kubernetes or ECS

  • Deployment and operations of workloads on AWS using EC2 Spot, Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS), Kubernetes or others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of design/implementation/operations/consulting with distributed applications experience

  • Experience in a 24x7 operational services or support environment

  • Professional oral and written communication skills, presenting to an audience containing one or more decision maker(s)

  • Experience with AWS services and/or other cloud offerings

  • Ability to understand complex application data flows and bridge the gap between technical and business app requirements.

  • AWS Certifications, e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Associate / Professional / Speciality highly desirable.

  • CKA / CKS / CKAD or similar certification from CNCF will be an added advantage.

  • Working knowledge of modern software development practices and technologies such as agile methodologies and DevOps is desired.

  • Professional experience in software development in languages like Java, Python, Scala. Experience working with RESTful API and general service oriented architectures.

  • Advanced Degree (MS, PhD)
