Director of Admissions

Classification Summary:

This class is the fifth level in the Admissions series. Incumbents manage the operations of the Admissions Office, including the recruitment, customer service, processing, and Early College functions, with the goal of ensuring prospective students have a positive first impression and experience. This position oversees the development and implementation of campus-wide recruitment initiatives and of admissions policies and procedures. Responsibilities include supervising and training staff; overseeing communication and outreach to prospective students; budget management; and streamlining operations to ensure students can successfully navigate the admissions process. This position collaborates with numerous College departments to develop integrated, data informed student recruitment plans and to help move students through the recruitment funnel.

Minimum Education and/or Training and Experience:

Masters degree in related field, and three years of experience in related area.

Preferred Education and/or Training and Experience:

College admissions experience preferred.

Supervisory experience preferred.

Classification Duties:

Manage the operations of the Admissions Office, including the student recruitment, Early College, processing, and customer service functions, with the goal of ensuring prospective students have a positive first impression and experience.

Supervise staff, including prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained and follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.

Responsible for the planning, budgeting, and ongoing assessment of the Office of Admissions, including developing and implementing annual goals and objectives; evaluating admission policies and recruitment strategies; and continuously assessing and improving programming and operations to achieve strategic goals.

Oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing assessment of a comprehensive recruitment plan, including establishing goals for increasing and sustaining enrollment; developing and implementing strategies and initiatives to recruit a diverse student population; and building stronger partnerships with high schools, community organizations, and local employers.

Serve as the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) and oversee the admission of all international students.

Chair and serve on institutional committees and subcommittees to assess and implement strategies to facilitate campus-wide recruitment of students.

Monitor and analyze enrollment and regional workforce data and trends to identify target populations for recruitment; provide flexible, rapid response to emerging opportunities and to ensure admissions practices are relevant and effective.

Oversee communication and outreach to prospective students, collaborating with the Office of Public Relations and Marketing and with the Admissions team to develop targeted outreach campaigns using a variety of media.

Oversee the processing of admissions applications, including ensuring compliance with College admissions policies, implementing strategies to help applicants to enrollees, and exploring technological solutions to improve enrollment management efforts and to maximize effective outreach.

Oversee coordination of recruitment presentations and special events, collaborating with related campus departments to move students through the recruitment funnel.
