The Hospitality/Beverage Specialist Certificate (HBSC) is an entry-level, beverage knowledge program designed to fulfill the needs of the hospitality and culinary industries and their employees. The Hospitality/Beverage Specialist Certificate provides a broad base of knowledge, covering all commercially relevant beverages, not just wine or spirits. The program's content covers: water, coffee, tea, soft drinks, beer, sake, cider, wine, and spirits & mixology.

  2. The certification has an education level of an Associates of Arts or Associates of Sciences degree or higher, but has a work experience requirement of less than 2 years of work experience.
  3. The certification has a work experience requirement of more than 2 years but does not require a two-year Associates of Arts or Associates of Sciences degree.
