A patient care technician works closely with nurses and other medical staff. He or she provides care for patients by helping to carry out daily living activities such as bathing, eating, dressing, and walking. Patient care technicians are often the ones to have the most direct contact with patients, and therefore play an important role as a member of the health care team.

  3. The certification has a work experience requirement of more than 2 years but does not require a two-year Associates of Arts or Associates of Sciences degree.
