Certification: Automobile Parts Specialist

The Parts Specialist Series includes six tests: Automobile Parts Specialist, Medium/Heavy Truck Dealership Parts Specialist, Medium/Heavy Truck Aftermarket Brake Parts Specialist, Medium/Heavy Truck Aftermarket Suspension and Steering Parts Specialist, and General Motors Parts Consultant. Each test includes questions on communication and sales skills, vehicle systems knowledge, vehicle identification, cataloguing skills, and inventory management. Successfully passing Test P2 will certify you as an Automobile Parts Specialist. This exam is offered in paper/pencil and computer-based formats.

ASE testing is available year-round. Whether you register on the first day of a registration window or the last, you will always have 90 days from the original date of purchase to schedule an appointment and take your test at any of our several hundred test centers across the country.

  1. The certification does not have a minimum education level or has an education level below a two-year Associates of Arts or Associates of Sciences degree and the certification does not have a minimum requirement for work experience or requires two or less years of work experience.
  2. The certification has an education level of an Associates of Arts or Associates of Sciences degree or higher, but has a work experience requirement of less than 2 years of work experience.
  3. The certification has a work experience requirement of more than 2 years but does not require a two-year Associates of Arts or Associates of Sciences degree.
