In order to become a licensed tree surgeon in the state of Alabama: The applicant must have sufficient knowledge and competency to do the work, but no formal education is required; the applicant must submit a written statement outlining training and experience in this field; and the applicant must pass a written examination, and obtain a Professional Services Permit.
