An adjuster is any person who, as an independent contractor or an employee of an independent contractor, adjustment bureau, association, insurance company or corporation, local recording agent, managing general agent, or self-insured, investigates or adjusts losses on behalf of either an insurer or a self-insured, or any person who supervises the handling of claims. Individuals must be at least 18 years of age and a citizen of the United States and submit proof. Applicants must have completed the 20 or 40 hour pre-licensing course and passed the state exam. Applicants should be fingerprinted after passing the state exam and one day before applying for the license.
