Driver's Training School Instructor (311 licenses) -- includes car, motorcycle, and adaptive rehabilitative car Major Requirements for Certification: 1) At least 21 years old; 2) Submit a letter from the current employer recommending that the individual be considered as a classroom instructor 3) To remain qualified, teach a minimum of 12 hours of classroom or refresher training every 24 months from the date the classroom instructor is first recognized by the Department as qualified 4) Pass an examination given by the Division which may consist of an actual demonstration or a written test; 5) Hold a valid Arizona driver license in vehicle they will be training and have a satisfactory driving record; 6) Physically and mentally able to safely operate a motor vehicle and to train others in the operation of motor vehicles. To substantiate this, the superintendent may require a properly signed and completed certificate of medical examination conducted by a person qualified and licensed to practice medicine in Arizona. Fees: Application Fee -- $10; Renewal (Annually) -- $10 Private company needs to sponsor instructor (see company for fees) Continuing Education: As needed by Motor Vehicle Division Commercial Driver's License School lnstructor: (103 licenses) -- Bus and School Bus, Truck Major Requirements for Certification: All of the above and: 1) Official name of the school at which the applicant will be an instructor 2) Have a minimum of three years of driving experience pertaining to the operation of a commercial vehicle representative of the type and class for which the applicant is seeking certification; 3) Have a total of three years experience in: issuing driver licenses; instructing driver education; instructing professional driving, or any combination of the three.
