License: Locksmith Employee Registration

A Locksmith Employee is any person who in on the payroll of a licensed locksmith company and engages in installing, repairing, opening or modifying locks, or that originates keys for locks. This does NOT include a person who exclusively makes copies of keys from an existing key. Requirements: Be 18 or older. Undergo a criminal history background check through the DOJ and the FBI. Application Fee - $20 DOJ Fingerprint Processing Fee - $32 FBI Fingerprint Processing Fee - $17 Renewal Fee - $20 A temporary registration is issued allowing applicants to work as a Locksmith Employee for 120 days if they have not been convicted of a crime. The initial license is valid for 2 years. Each renewal cycle extends the registration for an additional 2 years. Average time to process an application is 30-45 days.
