DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: An Architect plans and designs private residences, buildings and other structures to meet their client's functional, economic, and aesthetic requirements. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Professional requirements: Certify to reading, understanding, and agreeing to comply with the laws and rules that the board determines are required for licensure. Education and Experience requirements: Have one of the following: (1) Bachelor's, master's, or higher degree in architecture from an approved institution, and completion of the Intern Development Program (IDP); OR (2) Graduate of a 4-year architectural, pre-architectural or arts and science curriculum from an approved school or college, completion of IDP, and 2 years of additional lawful experience, OR (3) Graduate of a 2-year architectural technology curriculum from an approved community college or technical training school, completion of IDP, and 5 years of additional lawful experience; OR (4) Completion of IDP and 8 years of additional lawful experience. EXAMINATIONS: A.R.E., a computer-based exam. FEES: Application fee of $150 for endorsement or $100 for exam, $128 for 2-year license, and $100 for biennial compliance resolution fund.
