DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: A Chiropractor adjusts the human spinal column and other articulations of the spinal column by hand to prevent disease and correct abnormalities of the human body believed to be caused by interference with the nervous system. Examines patient to determine nature and extent of disorder. Manipulates spine or other involved area. May utilize supplementary measures such as exercise, rest, water, light, heat, and nutritional therapy. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Education requirements: Completion of 60 semester hours or equivalent of college credit in a pre-chiropractic program. Graduation from an accredited chiropractic college. EXAMINATIONS: National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) exam. FEES: In 2022, pay $391 (application $50, license $96, Compliance resolution fund $148, 2nd year of 2-year license period $97). In 2023, pay $220 (application $50, license $96, Compliance resolution fund $74). Application fee is not refundable. License is subject to renewal on or before December 31, of each odd-numbered year, regardless of issue date. OTHER: There were 335 licenses currently active as of February 24, 2022. ~ revised 08/18
