DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: An Occupational Therapist Assistant assists occupational therapists in providing occupational therapy treatments and procedures. In accordance with State laws, may assist in development of treatment plans, carry out routine functions, direct activity programs, and document the progress of treatments. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Personal requirements: 1) Be at least 18 years old. 2) Be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. Educational and experience requirements: Be certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). EXAMINATIONS: National Certification exam for Occupational Therapy Assistants. FEES: In 2022, pay $186 (application $50, license $86, compliance resolution fund $50). In 2023, pay $279 (application $50, license $86, compliance resolution fund $100, 1/2 renewal $43). OTHER: There were 146 licenses currently active as of February 24, 2022. ~ revised 09/20
