Anyone who serves as school counselors, school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, school social workers, school nurses and school audiologists is required to hold the Pupil Personnel Services Certificate with the respective endorsement(s) for which they qualify. Public School Counselors must hold a Personnel Services Certificate and a Counselor Endorsement (K-12) from the Idaho Department of Education. To be eligible for the certificate and endorsement, an applicant must: 1.) Earn a master's degree in counseling from an approved college or university; 2.) Complete 700 hours of supervised field experience, 75% of which must be in a K-12 school setting; 3.) Submit an institutional recommendation. Public School Psychologists must hold a Personnel Services Certificate and a School Psychologist Endorsement from the Idaho Department of Education. To be eligible for the certificate and endorsement, an applicant must: 1.) Earn a master's degree in education or psychology from an approved college or university; 2.) Complete 1,200 hours of internship within a school district under the supervision of a certificated school psychologist. Public school speech-language pathologists must hold a Personnel Services Certificate and a Speech-Language Pathologist Endorsement from the Idaho Department of Education. To be eligible for the certificate and endorsement, an applicant must earn a master's degree in a speech/language pathology program and an institutional recommendation from an approved college or university.
