Applicant is only required to pay a fee to obtain licensure. However, licensees must be able to comply with rigorous regulations and the agents of the state that will inspect licensee operations in order to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Among these regulations include what species licensee may breed, standards for captivity facilities, what may or may not be released into the wild, and more.
